Magic Party
ages 4-12

Back to Party Hints and Ideas

This is a great theme to use when putting on a magic show,
or hiring a professional magician.

  Invitations

  Food - Drinks & Desserts

  • Peanut Butter Pinwheel sandwiches
  • Magic Potion drinks
  • Star Shape - jell-o jigglers
  • Harry Potter recipes
  • Moon & Stars - Use two round cakes - any flavor.  Frost with a dark frosting such as chocolate (or create your own color).  Print and cut out star & moon stencil.  Cut out circle, then follow the lines to cut out the shapes.  After the stars and moon have been cut out, tape the pattern back together at the lines.  Place stencil on top of the frosted cake, and lightly dust with powdered sugar, or yellow sprinkles.

  Decorations

  • Magic Carpets to sit on. (purchase remnant carpet pieces from your local carpet store or you may find these at some hardware stores for as little as .50 cents each)

  Activities

  • Guess the number of marbles - Fill a small glass jar with a lid full of black marbles.  Have each child guess how many marbles are in the jar, the winner takes the jar home.
  • Magic Wand bookmark - great if incorporating Harry Potter in the theme.
  • Try doing your own magic tricks - examples can be found at The Conjuror or Simple Majik.

  Goodie Bags

  • Small magic sets, or printed magic instructions
  • Mini black hats (found at a party store) filled with small candies
  • Deck of playing cards
